Oral Histories

As part of the Echoes project, Friction Arts collected 50 oral histories from people who lived, worked and played in the Digbeth and Highgate areas of Birmingham. The full oral histories can be accessed from the Library of Birmingham’s archive or from Friction Arts (full details below).

You can listen to short samples of each oral history on this site and explore the contents of each story in the Echoes database. We’ve also included some slightly longer stories, which you can access here.
